I was particularly pleased to be asked to photograph Alina and Lewis’ wedding at the Pegwell Bay Hotel in Ramsgate for very personal reasons, as it’s the hotel where my husband and I had our own wedding reception 20 years ago! Twenty years ago the hotel owners were incredibly helpful as I was planning a wedding with very short notice, and without being able to confirm the final details until four weeks before the event depending on whether my husband to be had been given a visa to enter the country or not! Twenty years on and it seems that the staff are just as helpful, with Alina and Lewis also arranging their wedding in just weeks rather than the usual months or even years – In their case they just happen to be very organised people, and when they saw an opportunity they decided to make the most of it and go for it!
The gorgeous seaside wedding gazebo on the fully decked balcony made the most beautiful location for a summer wedding, overlooking the bay and with an evening sun low in the sky which gave the wedding an almost tropical feel. Looking at the photos it’s hard to believe that at midday the storm clouds and pelting rain gave every appearance of being there for good! Alina chose local florist, Karen, of Black Iris for her beautiful bouquets and button holes, and they fit the location perfectly.
