I was so pleased when Paul and Rachelle got in touch just a few months before their wedding date and asked me to photograph their intimate wedding at Bleak House. My earliest memories of Bleak House are from a school trip to Broadstairs as an 8 or 9-year-old, where a tour of Bleak House was included in our itinerary, and the only two things that have stuck in my mind were seeing Charles Dickens’ desk and the stories of pirates and hidden tunnels down to the beach! I’m happy to say that I enjoyed my day photographing Paul & Rachelle’s wedding there far more!
The day itself started off bright and sunny and perfectly matched the mood of the entire day. Rachelle chose to get ready at Bleak House, so we all enjoyed the beautiful views across Broadstairs and Viking Bay while Rachelle and her two very cute young bridesmaids got ready for the day. After a beautiful ceremony and greeting their guests Paul and Rachelle snuck away from the wedding for some photos on the beach and a quick dash to Morelli’s for a wedding day ice cream – Rachelle has lots of fond memories of visiting Morelli’s for ice creams throughout her childhood, so a trip there on her wedding day was a must! The Morellis staff were a little bemused at first I think, at having a bride and groom visit during their wedding, but were so welcoming and wouldn’t hear of being paid for the ice creams! Then it was back to Bleak House for their wedding breakfast and evening reception.
